Ghana Education Service clarifies salary adjustment process for promoted teachers

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a directive instructing newly promoted teachers to ignore requests to submit application letters or other documentation for salary adjustments. The Service clarified that teachers are automatically placed on the appropriate salary scale corresponding to their new ranks, noting that this is an existing practice that has not changed.

The clarification follows reports of certain regions and districts requesting documents from teachers to facilitate salary changes. GES management has appealed for calm while they engage with the specific districts reportedly making these requests. The statement, signed by Head of Public Relations Daniel Fenyi, emphasized that no additional steps are required from teachers to ensure their salaries reflect their new positions.
