Ghana Education Service clarifies payment of 6,300 newly recruited teachers

The Ministry of Finance and the Ghana Education Service (GES) have clarified that all 6,300 teachers recruited in 2024 have been paid in full. This follows an appeal from the Coalition of Unpaid Newly Posted Staff regarding outstanding salary arrears.

The Ministry of Finance stated that the current government inherited these staff members who were recruited without prior financial clearance. To resolve the issue, the Ministry secured Cabinet approval and issued clearance to facilitate payments in four tranches. The Ministry confirmed that all 6,300 staff covered by this specific arrangement have now been paid and noted that no further clearance requests from the GES are pending.

While the central payments are complete, the GES acknowledged that some individual discrepancies may still exist. To resolve these specific cases, the GES has established a dedicated help desk at its headquarters in Accra (Room 305). Affected teachers are encouraged to present supporting documents in person or contact the service via designated hotlines for verification and resolution.
