Ghana Education Service opens promotions for non-teaching staff

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has opened an application window for the promotion of non-teaching staff across ten professional categories. The application period is scheduled to run from September 14 to September 28, 2026.

The promotion exercise covers a wide range of support roles, including accounting, internal audit, administration, catering, technical, library, supply, laboratory, secretarial, and driver classes. Available positions include roles such as Chief Accountant, Chief Internal Auditor, Chief Administrative Officer, Chief Librarian, and Chief Driver, among others.

To be eligible, applicants must have been promoted to their current specified grade in or before 2022 and must have remained continuously at their post since that time, excluding approved absences. Candidates are also required to maintain a very satisfactory work history and conduct record.

Provisions have been made for staff holding postgraduate qualifications, such as a Master’s or PhD, to apply for interviews out of turn. To qualify under this provision, the degree must be from a GES-approved course of study, must not have been obtained prior to the applicant’s previous promotion, and must have been earned in or before 2023. Applications must be submitted through the designated online platform.
