Ghana Education Service sets October 30 deadline for school grants

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a directive to all Regional Directors of Education to ensure that first-term 2026/2027 Capitation Grants reach basic schools by October 30, 2026.

In a letter dated October 16, 2026, the GES confirmed that funds have already been transferred to the accounts of District Education Directorates for distribution to schools. This transfer includes a sports and culture component intended for district offices. Regional sports and culture allocations have been sent separately to regional office accounts.

The Capitation Grant is intended to cover routine operational costs for basic schools, including teaching and learning materials and minor repairs. To ensure compliance, a team from the GES headquarters is scheduled to visit various regions during the first week of November 2026 to monitor the disbursement process.
