Ghana ex‑BNC chief Kwabena Adu‑Boahene's trial faces witness dispute over financial evidence

Mildred Donkor, the third prosecution witness in the criminal trial of former Bureau of National Communications Director‑General Kwabena Adu‑Boahene, testified that transfers between UMB Bank branches required head‑office authorisation and that a special banking relationship facilitated transactions for Adu‑Boahene and his wife. She described fund movements from BNC Communications Bureau Limited accounts to Advantage Solutions Limited accounts as routine operational procedures, rejecting the suggestion that they were designed to create a complex network for the accused.

During cross‑examination, Donkor was unable to reconcile several large withdrawals recorded in Excel exhibits with official bank statements, failing to identify amounts such as GH¢100,000, GH¢1 million and others. The defence highlighted these inconsistencies, questioning the credibility of the prosecution’s financial narrative. The court, presided over by Justice Francis Apangabuno Achibonga, adjourned the case to 15 June 2026 for further proceedings.
