Ghana's Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz to sign new two‑year deal after World Cup Round of 32

Ghana Football Association and the Ministry of Sports have agreed to extend head coach Carlos Queiroz's stay with the Black Stars, signing a two‑year contract after his short‑term appointment led the team to the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Queiroz, 73, will focus on ending Ghana's 45‑year Africa Cup of Nations title drought and preparing the squad for the 2027 AFCON qualifiers.

Goalkeeper Lawrence Ati‑Zigi praised the unity of Ghana's goalkeeping unit and backed Queiroz, saying the coach brought positivity to camp and should remain in charge. He expressed confidence that the Black Stars have the talent and hunger to qualify for, and make an impact at, the 2027 tournament in East Africa.

Assistant coach Roger De Sa confirmed his contract was limited to the World Cup and expired at the end of July. Ghana has been drawn in Group C for the AFCON qualifiers alongside Ivory Coast, Somalia and Gambia, with matches set to begin in September.
