Ghana Extradites Former MASLOC Chief to Serve 10‑Year Sentence

Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, the national coordinator of Ghana's District Road Improvement Programme, urged former Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) chief executive Sedina Tamakloe‑Attionu to rebuild her life after her extradition from the United States. Tamakloe‑Attionu was convicted in absentia in 2024 by the Accra High Court on charges of causing nearly GH¢90 million in financial loss to the state and was sentenced to ten years in prison. She had left Ghana in 2021 for medical treatment and failed to return, prompting extradition proceedings in 2025. A U.S. District Court in Nevada approved the request, allowing her return to Ghana to serve the sentence. Vanderpuye, speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily, framed the conviction as a setback, not the end of her future, citing examples of leaders who overcame imprisonment.
