Sedina Tamakloe held in Ghana prison after US extradition

Former MASLOC chief executive Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu was extradited from the United States and returned to Ghana on June 9 to begin serving a 10‑year prison sentence for losses incurred during her tenure. She is currently in the custody of the Ghana Prisons Service, having been handed over by US authorities, according to legal team member Victor Adawudu.

Government spokespersons have stated she is not under house arrest but held by prison officials. Public figures, including IMANI Africa President Franklin Cudjoe and journalist Samson Lardy, have pressed authorities for transparency on her location, health condition and the next legal steps. Cudjoe said, “There should be some clarity,” while Lardy questioned, “Why is the Service toying with a matter of such significant public interest?” The call for clearer communication reflects broader public and political interest in the handling of high‑profile extradition cases in Ghana.
