Ghana faces growing cybersecurity risks in digital economy
Ghana’s Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has highlighted growing cybersecurity risks associated with the nation’s expanding digital economy. During the opening of the 2026 National Cyber Security Awareness Month, CSA Director-General Divine Selase Agbeti warned that the increasing reliance on digital payments, mobile banking, and online commerce has turned cybersecurity into a critical issue for both economic and national security.
Agbeti noted that cyber incidents pose a threat to public confidence in the systems driving financial inclusion and electronic commerce. He emphasized that loss of trust in digital platforms could discourage consumers from using mobile money and online banking, potentially slowing the adoption of essential digital services. He stated that cybersecurity must be addressed as a broad economic concern rather than being limited strictly to technology departments.
