Ghana financial markets see stock rally amid cedi depreciation
Ghana’s financial markets showed divergent trends during the week ending September 11, 2026. The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) experienced significant growth, with the Composite Index closing at 14,611.15 points and achieving a year-to-date return of 66.60%.
On September 11, trading turnover on the GSE reached GH¢10.62 million. ETI dominated the market, representing 85.32% of the total number of securities traded.
In contrast, the fixed-income and currency markets faced challenges. Investor demand for Treasury bills declined, with total bids falling to GH¢8.19 billion from GH¢9.94 billion the previous week. While the government's target of GH¢7.97 billion was met with a 2.83% oversubscription, yields declined across all maturities.
