Ghana Football Association announces two-legged MTN FA Cup final

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that the 2026/27 MTN FA Cup final will be played over two legs, marking a historic departure from the traditional single-match format in Ghanaian domestic football.

The first leg is scheduled to take place between June 5 and 7, 2027, with the return fixture following a week later between June 12 and 13. According to the GFA, this change aims to increase the competition's exposure and allow both finalists to host a major match in front of their own supporters.

By moving away from neutral venues, the new format is expected to reduce travel burdens for fans and allow clubs to generate more revenue. The 2026/27 tournament schedule includes preliminary rounds starting in October 2026, followed by the Round of 64 in November, the Round of 32 in February 2027, quarter-finals in March, and semi-finals in April.
