Ghana Football Association presidency race intensifies ahead of 2027 elections

Speculation is growing regarding potential candidates for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidency ahead of the October 2027 elections. Following reports that incumbent president Kurt Okraku may not seek a third term, several high-profile figures have been linked to the race.

Former national team captain André Ayew has received an endorsement from veteran broadcaster Kwame Sefa Kayi, who expressed a desire for new leadership in Ghanaian football. While Ayew has not officially declared his intention to run, he remains a central figure in the ongoing discussion.

Asamoah Gyan, Ghana’s all-time leading goalscorer, has also emerged as a potential contender. Other names mentioned in connection with the upcoming election include football administrator Samuel Annim Addo, former Brong Ahafo Regional Football Association chairman Ralph Gyambrah, and Karela United CEO Elloeny Amande.
