Ghana football updates: Beach soccer draw and AFCON qualifier venue
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has scheduled the official draw for the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations for November 4, 2026, in Cairo, Egypt. Ghana, having qualified after defeating Nigeria on aggregate, will learn their group-stage opponents during the event. The eight qualified nations include Angola, Ghana, Malawi, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Senegal, and Uganda. Senegal, the defending champion and host, will be placed in Group A, while Mauritania will occupy a top spot in Group B.
Separately, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed Essipong Stadium in Sekondi as the venue for Ghana’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Somalia. The first match is scheduled for November 12, followed by a reverse fixture on November 16. Ghana enters the fixture seeking to revive its qualifying campaign after losses to Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia. Following the departure of head coach Carlos Queiroz, an interim technical team led by Kim Lars Björkegren will manage the squad.
