Ghana Gold Board partners with Shatta Wale and Medikal to boost local gold jewellery
The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has signed a strategic partnership with popular Ghanaian musicians Shatta Wale and Medikal. The alliance aims to promote domestically manufactured gold jewellery and expand downstream value‑addition in the country’s gold sector. The artists will use their social‑media reach, music videos, public appearances and the upcoming ShattaFest UK concert on August 1 to showcase Ghana‑made gold products, targeting both local consumers and the diaspora.
GoldBod says the collaboration seeks to reverse the long‑standing practice of exporting raw gold bullion by creating a market for high‑purity, hallmarked jewellery, generating jobs and formalising artisanal goldsmithing. By linking cultural influence with mineral asset governance, the partnership hopes to retain more of the nation’s mineral wealth, diversify export revenues and strengthen the domestic luxury market.
