Ghana Health Ministry Enforces Zero‑Tolerance Policy on Nursing Admission Extortion
The Ghana Ministry of Health, through its Health Training Institutions Unit head Tony Goodman, announced a zero‑tolerance stance on extortion and unauthorised fees in nursing school admissions. The ministry has instructed nursing institutions to adhere strictly to approved fee structures and admission quotas, warning that any deviation will be sanctioned.
Investigations led by the Bureau of National Investigations and the Ghana Police Service have already resulted in the arrest and arraignment of several suspected fraudsters. The ministry also introduced an online application portal to make the process transparent and to eliminate reliance on middlemen, while pledging continued monitoring throughout the academic year.
