Ghana Health Ministry temporarily closes Techiman Krobo Nursing Training College

The Ghana Ministry of Health ordered the immediate, temporary closure of the Nursing Training College at Techiman Krobo on 29 July 2026, citing sustained student unrest and a breakdown of discipline that made normal academic operations untenable. The ministry directed all students to vacate the campus peacefully by 5 p.m. that day and return home, while assuring parents and staff that the step was taken to protect lives, safety and property.

Authorities said prior attempts to restore order—including meetings, counselling sessions and appeals involving the Regional Security Council—had failed to curb disruptive conduct. The shutdown is presented as a cooling‑off period that will allow officials to assess the underlying causes and determine conditions for reopening the college.
