Ghana Health Service names new regional health director and pushes client‑relation reforms
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) welcomed Dr. Godfred Kwabena Sarpong as the new Regional Health Director for the Western Region, succeeding Dr. Marion Okoh‑Owusu, who has been transferred to the GHS headquarters in Accra. Western Regional Minister Joseph Nelson praised Dr. Sarpong’s expertise and urged full support for his oversight of district hospitals, disease surveillance and the expansion of health services.
In the Upper East Region, GHS Regional Director Dr. Braimah Baba Abubakari called for stronger client‑relations to restore public confidence. He led a virtual training for Client Relations Officers, emphasizing professionalism, empathy and clear communication to address complaints and improve patient experience across health facilities.
