Ghana Holds Over Five Weeks of Fuel Reserves Amid Global Oil Uncertainty
The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) said Ghana has fuel stocks exceeding five weeks for both petrol and diesel, reassuring the public amid heightened tensions in the Middle East and broader global oil market uncertainty. NPA Director of Economic Regulation and Planning Abass Tasunti explained that continuous imports, a line‑up programme and uninterrupted domestic refining since July 2025 keep supplies stable, with vessels currently discharging product.
The regulator also noted the government's recent GH¢2‑per‑litre diesel price cushion aimed at protecting consumers from rising petroleum product prices. Tasunti stressed that ensuring the availability of petroleum products remains the NPA’s top priority, and that the stock levels are regularly replenished rather than a fixed, depleting quantity.
