Ghana hospitality sector sees expansion and international recognition
Ghana’s hospitality sector is seeing significant developments, highlighted by expansion plans at the Labadi Beach Hotel and international recognition for Accra’s nightlife.
Speaking at the 2026 Akwaaba African Travel Market, Labadi Beach Hotel’s Head of Sales, George Ayisi, announced plans to expand the Accra-based property by 100 rooms and add an ultra-modern conference facility. This expansion will increase the hotel’s total room inventory from 164 to 264. The strategy aims to bolster the hotel’s capacity for the corporate market, specifically targeting meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE), while noting the growing importance of Nigerian travelers to the Ghanaian tourism economy.
Additionally, the Accra-based venue Front/Back has been named to the prestigious World’s Best Bars 2026 list. The recognition highlights the city’s growing reputation as a destination for contemporary drinking culture and sophisticated hospitality, contributing to the broader visibility of Ghana’s creative and hospitality ecosystem on the global stage.
