Ghana housing finance conference to open in Accra on October 7

President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to open a two-day national conference on housing finance in Accra on October 7, 2026. Organized by the National Homeownership Fund (NHF), the event will be held at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel under the theme, “Adequate Housing for All: Innovative Financing for Ghana’s Housing Future”.

The conference aims to address critical challenges in Ghana’s housing sector, including rising construction costs, high mortgage rates, and limited access to long-term financing. Stakeholders from government, financial institutions, the private sector, academia, and civil society will gather to discuss sustainable funding models and institutional reforms to improve housing accessibility for low- and middle-income earners.

The event is organized in collaboration with the Ministries of Finance, Works, Housing and Water Resources, and Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, alongside the Bank of Ghana and Shelter Afrique Development Bank. The proceedings are expected to conclude with a policy outcomes communiqué containing recommendations for future resource mobilization and policy implementation.
