Ghana Inflation Drops to 4.6% in July, Strengthening Economic Outlook

Ghana's inflation rate fell to 4.6% in July 2026, down from 5.3% in June and a year‑on‑year decline from 12.1% twelve months earlier. The Ghana Statistical Service reported that monthly consumer‑price growth slowed to 0.1%, while food inflation turned negative at -0.1%, indicating slight declines in staple prices. The Consumer Price Index rose to 271.1 in July from 259.1 in June.

Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama said the economy grew by an estimated 6.4% in the first quarter of 2026, driven by services and industry. He highlighted improving business confidence, lower lending rates, and a rebound in tourism, while noting Ghana’s vulnerability to global shocks such as Middle‑East tensions and rising oil prices. The central bank remains committed to controlling inflation and supporting investment.
