Ghana intensifies Ebola surveillance amid regional outbreaks
The Ghanaian Ministry of Health has increased health surveillance, airport screening, and emergency preparedness measures following confirmed Ebola cases in Kenya and Nigeria. While Ghana has not recorded any Ebola cases, officials are strengthening national capacity for early detection, isolation, and management of suspected infections.
Health officials noted that the situation in Kenya poses a significant risk due to high passenger volumes and direct flight connectivity to Ghana. Similarly, the confirmed case in Nigeria has heightened concerns due to frequent travel between the two West African nations. The response strategy, executed through the Ghana Health Service, includes enhanced screening at international airports and coordination with the Ghana Airports Company Limited.
