Ghana Interior Minister Muntaka reports $350 M cocaine destroyed and probes insider aid in meth case
Interior Minister Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka told Parliament that more than $350 million worth of cocaine seized at Pedu Junction in the Central Region was destroyed after a court order. Video evidence of the destruction was presented to the Public Assurance Committee, and three suspects linked to the seizure remain on trial.
Muntaka also revealed that a 320‑kilogram methamphetamine shipment intercepted in Australia – valued at about A$296 million – has prompted investigations into possible involvement of Ghanaian government officials. Authorities are questioning officials, overhauling border security procedures and personnel deployments to prevent similar breaches.
