Ghana Interior Ministry recovers 73 assets tied to drug traffickers

The Ghanaian Interior Ministry, led by Minister Muntaka Mohammed‑Mubarak, announced the recovery of 73 assets linked to suspected drug traffickers. The achievement follows recent upgrades to the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), including the provision of 22 operational vehicles after a decade without new equipment, which the minister said enabled the detection of the assets.

Dedicated courts have been established to expedite narcotics prosecutions, and the government highlighted broader criminal‑justice reforms such as the passage of the Community Service Act and the imminent approval of parole regulations aimed at reducing prison overcrowding.
