Ghana Investment Promotion Authority profiles regional projects
The Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) has identified and profiled numerous investment-ready projects across Northern Ghana to attract domestic and international capital. As part of a strategic roadshow, GIPA is highlighting opportunities in sectors including agriculture, agro-processing, renewable energy, tourism, manufacturing, mining, and logistics.
In the North East Region specifically, projects valued between US$1 million and US$80 million have been presented. These include initiatives in commercial agriculture, irrigation development along the Black and White Volta Rivers, livestock production, and integrated rice milling. Projected returns on investment for these regional projects are estimated to range from 14% to 25%.
Nationwide, GIPA’s Investment Opportunities Mapping Project has identified over 600 projects, with 128 located in the Northern, North East, Savannah, Upper East, and Upper West regions. The Upper West Region holds the highest concentration with 45 profiles, followed by the Northern Region with 38. Data from 1994 to June 2026 indicates that these northern regions have attracted approximately US$1.91 billion in foreign direct investment, primarily concentrated in the manufacturing and agriculture sectors.
