Ghana Investment Promotion Authority targets Upper West growth

The Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) is conducting an investment roadshow in the Upper West Region to attract private capital and address economic disparities between northern and southern Ghana. Priority sectors for development include agriculture, agro-processing, manufacturing, renewable energy, and tourism.

During the roadshow, GIPA officials highlighted the progress of the Black Volta Gold Project, managed by Engineers & Planners Company Limited (E&P). Following the acquisition of Azumah Resources Ghana Limited and Upwest Resources Limited, E&P has secured funding to commence development. The project is projected to produce an average of 163,000 ounces of gold annually during its first five years, potentially accounting for approximately 3% of Ghana’s national gold production.

GIPA officials emphasized the importance of local employment, skills development, and responsible mining to ensure hosting communities benefit from these investments.
