Ghana invites Indian pharmaceutical and vaccine investment
President John Dramani Mahama has invited Indian pharmaceutical and vaccine manufacturers to invest in Ghana, stating the country is ‘open for business’. During a meeting with India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Mahama highlighted the nation’s economic stability, noting low inflation and declining interest rates as key drivers for investment.
Mahama emphasized the ‘Accra Reset’ initiative, which aims to secure health sovereignty across Africa by localizing vaccine production. He cited the partnership between Atlantic Life Sciences and KinaPharma as a model for domestic manufacturing capacity.
Foreign Direct Investment into Ghana rose to US$2.6 billion in 2025, with projections suggesting it could exceed US$3 billion in 2026. The President intends to use international platforms, such as the upcoming U.S.–Africa Summit, to promote Ghana’s industrial potential to global investors.
