Ghana Journalists Association hosts FAJ Steering Committee meeting in Accra

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) is hosting the Federation of African Journalists (FAJ) Steering Committee meeting in Accra. The two-day event, scheduled for September 17–18, 2026, brings together media leaders from across the continent to discuss the future of journalism in Africa.

Key agenda items include press freedom, journalists' safety, and professional welfare. Participants will address emerging challenges such as digital information disorder, financial instability within media organizations, and physical attacks against media practitioners. The committee is also expected to select a host for the sixth FAJ Conference, with Ghana among the bidding nations.

GJA President Albert Kwabena Dwumfour emphasized the need for stronger protections for journalists, noting that their safety is vital to a vibrant democracy. He highlighted that the association aims to collaborate with the FAJ to advance the interests of media professionals and ensure a sustainable environment for the profession through innovation and ethical standards.
