Ghana Journalists Association inaugurates committee for 30th Media Awards

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has inaugurated a nine-member committee to vet entries for the 30th GJA Media Awards, which are scheduled to take place on November 7, 2026, in Accra.

Chaired by Kobby Asmah, a Commissioner of the National Media Commission, the committee is tasked with conducting an independent review of all submissions to ensure the credibility and integrity of the awards. The GJA President, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, emphasized that the committee must operate with fairness, transparency, and professionalism.

A total of 327 entries from 206 journalists have been submitted, marking one of the highest participation rates in recent years. The submissions are distributed across online media (125), television (111), print (46), and radio (45).

This year, the awards have introduced two new categories: the New Media Platform Award, designed to encourage professionalism among bloggers and new media practitioners, and the Governor’s Economic and Financial Story of the Year Award.
