Ghana Lands Minister Emmanuel Armah‑Kofi Buah Announces 1,500‑acre Reclamation Goal and Sector Reforms
Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Emmanuel Armah‑Kofi Buah said the government reclaimed 1,335 acres of degraded land in 2025, mainly in the Ashanti region, through a partnership with the private sector. He announced a new target to restore another 1,500 acres in 2026, alongside a separate government‑led effort to reclaim 960 acres.
Buah also outlined plans to boost ecotourism, including a 120‑seat picnic area, ten accommodation units at a resource reserve, and a 20‑room tourist facility with a restaurant at Mole Park. He invited private investors to collaborate with the Forestry Commission on these projects.
The minister will address the public on July 15, 2026, during the Government Accountability Series, to discuss land‑administration reforms, mining sector changes, and measures to protect Ghana’s environment from illegal mining.
