Ghana’s Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has launched the 2026 National Cyber Security Awareness Month, running from October 1 to 31. The campaign, themed ‘Securing Ghana’s Digital Finance Ecosystem: Building Trust Through Collaboration and Cyber Resilience’, aims to strengthen cooperation between government agencies, financial institutions, and the public to combat rising cyber-enabled fraud.

CSA Director-General Divine Selase Agbeti reported a significant surge in digital crime. Fraud cases across banks, specialized deposit-taking institutions, and payment service providers increased by 48%, rising from 16,733 in 2024 to 24,778 in 2025. Additionally, electronic fraud within the payment service provider segment saw a 54% increase during the same period.

Data from the CSA shows that between January and July 2026, 3,876 cybersecurity incidents were recorded in Ghana, with online fraud accounting for approximately 47% of those cases. Agbeti urged financial institutions, fintechs, and merchants to treat cybersecurity as a core business responsibility and to only utilize cybersecurity service providers licensed or accredited by the Authority.
