Ghana malls and West African basketball spark new fan experiences

Ghana’s major shopping centres are being repurposed as fan zones, allowing supporters to watch matches and engage with interactive displays inside venues such as Westfield Accra. The Black Stars fan zone at the mall features high‑definition screens, merchandise stalls and VR gaming areas, blending retail convenience with the atmosphere of a stadium.

At the same time, basketball is expanding its foothold across West Africa. Increased media coverage, investment in club competitions and the support of the International Basketball Federation have boosted participation and viewership, especially in Kenya and other urban centres. Digital platforms now deliver live games, statistics and betting options, drawing new audiences to the sport.
