Ghana Maritime Authority denies claims of ineffective vessel monitoring
The Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA) has denied allegations that its vessel monitoring system is ineffective. The Authority issued a statement rejecting claims made by Dennis Miracles Aboagye, who suggested that vessels operating within Ghanaian waters are not being monitored.
The GMA asserted that its maritime surveillance system is fully operational and provides 24-hour monitoring of the maritime domain. The authority stated that these tools are utilized to track vessels, verify identities, and ensure compliance with maritime requirements, while also protecting offshore oil and gas facilities, pipelines, and submarine cables.
