Ghana markets see high activity in stock turnover and bond issuance

The Ghana Stock Exchange recorded a turnover of GH¢17.90 million on September 4, 2026. Trading activity was highly concentrated, with GCB Bank and MTN Ghana accounting for approximately 95.04% of the total value traded. GCB Bank alone represented 67.68% of the market turnover, while MTN Ghana contributed 27.36%.

In the debt market, Ghana successfully raised GH¢3.15 billion through a four-year Treasury bond issuance. The bond, which matures in 2030, cleared at a 12 percent yield. The transaction saw significant investor interest, with bids totaling approximately GH¢4.46 billion, representing roughly 1.4 times the amount accepted. This issuance is part of a broader strategy by the Ministry of Finance to lengthen the maturity profile of domestic debt and reduce reliance on short-term Treasury bills.
