Ghana Meteorological Agency warns of thunderstorms and rough seas

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued weather warnings for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and gusty winds across multiple regions of Ghana. A weather system currently affecting the Oti, Eastern, and Northern regions is expected to move into the Ashanti, Bono, and Bono East regions, as well as coastal areas.

In the northern sectors, including the Upper East, North East, and Northern regions, residents are advised to prepare for moderate to heavy rainstorms. The system is forecast to move westwards toward the Upper West and Savannah regions. Authorities have specifically warned flood-prone and riverside communities, particularly those near Dambai and along the Oti River, to remain alert.

Coastal areas face risks from rough seas, which pose significant dangers to fishing communities and small vessels. Additionally, mist or fog is expected in mountainous and coastal zones, potentially reducing visibility for motorists. Drivers are urged to reduce speed and avoid crossing flooded roads or low-lying bridges.
