Ghana military chiefs to investigate Ningo-Prampram incident
The Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, has committed to investigating a disputed military operation in Ningo-Prampram following a confrontation between a military officer and Samuel Nartey George, the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation.
During a meeting with military high command, including the heads of the army, navy, and air force, Minister George stated that his previous remarks were not intended as an attack on the Ghana Armed Forces. He maintained that his criticism focused on the conduct of specific personnel and the harm experienced by his constituents.
In response to the incident, Physical Training Instructor Twumasi Barimah, known as the Commander General of the Ghana Armed Forces, criticized the minister. He argued that George acted inappropriately by publicly disclosing a lieutenant’s service number and suggested that his comments could incite residents against the military. The Commander General urged the minister to seek clarification on military operations before making public pronouncements.
