Ghana Ministry of Finance adopts Eskwai legal AI

Ghana’s Ministry of Finance has become the first government institution in the country to implement legal artificial intelligence across an entire department. The Ministry’s Legal Directorate has adopted Eskwai, a platform developed by the Ghanaian legal-tech company Kwame AI.

Eskwai is specifically designed to understand African jurisprudence, utilizing Ghanaian case law and legislation to assist with research, drafting, and document review. This deployment aims to accelerate complex legal workflows, such as reviewing contracts and drafting policies, by providing faster access to relevant legal databases and court rulings.

This partnership follows previous implementations by Kwame AI within the Ghanaian court system, where a version called Eskwai Clerk assists judges with drafting rulings. The company also provides pro bono access to its tools for the staff of Ghana’s Legal Aid Commission.
