Ghana Ministry of Gender reviews national anti-trafficking plan

Ghana’s Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has convened a Technical Working Group to review and develop a new National Plan of Action (NPA) to combat human trafficking.

Organized through the Human Trafficking Secretariat, the meeting involved key stakeholders assessing current progress and identifying gaps in the country’s response. Primary discussions centered on improving the classification and availability of trafficking data, mobilizing resources and funding, and enhancing monitoring and data collection systems.

Abena Annobea Asare, Director of the Human Trafficking Secretariat, emphasized the necessity of stakeholder collaboration to create a practical plan. The initiative aims to strengthen coordination between institutions to better prevent trafficking, protect victims, and support the prosecution of offenders.
