The Ministry of Sports and Recreation held a national validation workshop in Accra to review the draft for the National Sports Policy 2026. The workshop, held at the GNAT Hall, allowed stakeholders to examine and confirm the programs and strategies outlined in the document.
The proposed policy aims to transform sports from a recreational activity into a strategic tool for economic development, health promotion, social inclusion, and international competitiveness. Dr. Austin Luguterah of the University of Ghana noted the goal is to align the sector with national and global priorities.
Minister of Sports and Member of Parliament, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, stated that the objective is to finalize the document for Cabinet review and subsequent presentation to Parliament. Stakeholders participated in breakout sessions to refine the draft and identify potential loopholes.
