John Darko granted enquiry bail in SIC Savings and Loans probe

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) is investigating an alleged criminal conspiracy involving SIC Savings and Loans Company Limited, which has resulted in an estimated financial loss of GH¢27 million.

Suame Member of Parliament John Darko reported to EOCO on October 13, 2026, to assist with the inquiry and was subsequently granted enquiry bail. Darko, who also serves as Legal Counsel to the Minority Caucus, has denied any wrongdoing. His legal representatives, Darko, Keli-Delataa & Co, stated that his previous roles as a board member of Equity Savings and Loans and as legal counsel were strictly limited to litigation and did not involve the post-judgment settlements currently under scrutiny.

Additionally, former Managing Director of SIC Life Savings and Loans, Amma Frimpomaa Dwumah, has also cooperated with investigators. The probe follows the earlier involvement of Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah in the case. EOCO has emphasized that investigations are ongoing and no final conclusions regarding culpability have been reached.
