Ghana names provisional squad for 2026 Amputee Football World Cup

The Ghana Paralympic Committee has announced a 20-player provisional squad for the Black Challenge ahead of the 2026 World Amputee Football Federation (WAFF) World Cup. The tournament is scheduled to take place in San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico, from November 13 to 22, 2026, featuring 24 national teams.

Under the leadership of head coach Richard Stephen Obeng, the provisional roster includes three goalkeepers and 17 outfield players. The selection draws from clubs and programs in both Ghana and Türkiye. Notable players based in Türkiye include Yussif Yahaya, Richard Arthur Opentil, and Hamza Mohammed, while local talent includes players from Asanteman AFC, Global AFC, and Gye Nyame AFC.

Ghana enters the competition with significant momentum following several continental successes. The team won the African amputee football title in 2021, secured gold at the inaugural African Para Games in 2023, and successfully defended their African title in Cairo in 2024. These victories secured their qualification for the upcoming World Cup in Mexico.
