Ghana National Fire Service recovers two bodies in separate drowning incidents

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has recovered two bodies following separate drowning incidents involving open drainage and manholes in Wa and Winneba.

In Wa, firefighters retrieved the body of Eric Adams, a man believed to be in his late 30s, from a water-filled open drainage system at the SSNIT Residence. The incident was reported near the Frimps Oil Filling Station, and the body has been handed to the police for investigation to determine the circumstances of his death.

In Winneba, a five-year-old girl drowned after falling into an uncovered, 12-foot-deep manhole in the Ansaful area. A rescue team spent approximately 34 minutes retrieving the child from the waterlogged pit. The incident has drawn attention to the risks posed by neglected urban drainage infrastructure and uncovered manholes in residential neighborhoods.
