Ghana National Fire Service to receive new fire tenders within four months

Ghana's Interior Minister, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, has announced that the first batch of newly procured fire tenders for the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) is expected to arrive within four months. The procurement process has been completed by the Central Tender Committee, and the government is moving to sign the contract to facilitate delivery.

During a ceremony in Accra, the Minister also commissioned 26 vehicles and motorcycles to support the GNFS and the Automated Fire Safety Compliance System (AFCAS). This equipment includes five 15-seater vans, five saloon cars, six pick-ups, and 10 motorbikes.

Mr. Mubarak noted that the investment in new equipment is necessary to address complex risks arising from rapid urbanization, increased industrial activity, growing vehicular traffic, and emerging technologies. He emphasized that funding emergency response institutions is an investment in public safety and national resilience rather than a mere expenditure.
