Ghana National Service Authority to launch military training

The National Service Authority (NSA) in Ghana is preparing to launch an inaugural four-week Basic Military Training programme scheduled to begin in December 2026. More than 3,000 former National Service Personnel, including approximately 600 women, have applied for the 2,000 available spots.

Director-General of the NSA, Ruth Dela Seddoh, stated that the selection process is currently undergoing medical screening to ensure applicant fitness. The programme aims to provide young Ghanaians with military orientation, discipline, physical conditioning, and skills that may prepare them for future careers in the Ghana Armed Forces.

Ms. Seddoh urged applicants to view the training as a serious investment in their future rather than an opportunity for entertainment. The government is also considering making this military orientation a mandatory component of the national service experience in the coming years.
