Ghana Nursing Council to summon nurse over TikTok livestream

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) of Ghana is expected to summon a nurse next week following a controversial TikTok livestream. The broadcast allegedly showed a pregnant patient in visible distress.

The incident was brought to the attention of the Ghana Health Service after a social media user reported the livestream. Reports indicate that while the nurse appeared to be comforting the patient by rubbing her back, the broadcast attracted mockery and inappropriate comments from viewers.

Furthermore, the nurse allegedly displayed a Mobile Money (MoMo) number during the session to solicit financial contributions from viewers while the patient was in distress. The Ministry of Health confirmed that the NMC is following up on the matter to address concerns regarding patient privacy, professional conduct, and the dignity of medical care.
