Ghana Police arrest 64 suspects and seize firearms in Achimota raid
Police in the Greater Accra Region have arrested 64 suspects following a targeted raid on a lounge near Achimota Mile 7. The operation, conducted by the Special Operations unit and the National SWAT team, was prompted by local resident complaints regarding criminal activity and the public display of firearms.
During the raid, officers impounded an unregistered blue Acura vehicle after discovering a pistol holster inside. One suspect, Theophilus Ashon, was apprehended after attempting to pose as a detective from the CID Operations. A search of his person revealed a loaded Smith & Wesson pistol with six rounds of ammunition.
A subsequent investigation led authorities to Atico, where they arrested Michael Emmanuel Kingsley Mills. A search of his residence uncovered a significant cache of weapons, including three pump-action shotguns, four pistols, and over 100 rounds of various ammunition and cartridges. All 64 suspects remain in custody pending court processing.
