Ghana police arrest two men over alleged remarks about Prophet Mohammed

The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the National Signals Bureau, has arrested two men following the circulation of videos containing allegedly offensive and inciting remarks regarding Prophet Mohammed.

One suspect, 35-year-old Imam Masud Abdullah, is accused of advocating for violence against individuals who speak ill of the Prophet during a sermon at a mosque in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region. In a separate incident, the Police Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team arrested Daniel Junior Yaw Adjei, also known as Apostle Daniel JY Adjei, for allegedly making derogatory comments about Prophet Mohammed in a video.

Authorities stated that investigations into both cases are ongoing and the suspects will face due process under Ghanaian law. The police issued a warning to religious and community leaders to act responsibly, noting that while freedom of religion and expression are protected, they must not be used to justify inciting violence or encouraging harm against others.
