Ghana police arrest two suspects in mobile money vendor murder

The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with a June 6, 2026, robbery in Gomoa Dominase that resulted in the death of a 30-year-old mobile money vendor.

Investigators achieved a breakthrough when the victim’s stolen iPhone 13 Pro was reactivated, allowing police to track its location. This led to the arrest of Isaac Baffoe, also known as Kwame Cheddo, in Takoradi. During a search, police discovered the stolen iPhone concealed inside an iPhone 17 safety case.

Baffoe directed officers to Prince Tawiah Baidoo, a phone technician in the Kwesimintsim area. Baidoo allegedly admitted to refurbishing the stolen device by replacing its motherboard, Face ID component, and camera sensors for a fee of GH¢2,650. Police recovered the original components from Baidoo’s residence. Both suspects have been arraigned before the Ofaakor Circuit Court as investigations continue to identify other members of the robbery gang.
