Ghana Police crackdown on illegal sirens and strobe lights

The Ghana Police Service warned that the use of sirens, horns, strobe lights and other emergency warning devices on private vehicles is illegal under the Road Traffic Regulations 2012 and ordered owners to remove any unauthorized equipment.

In a targeted traffic enforcement operation in the Ashanti Region, police intercepted 188 vehicles for offences such as the unlawful use of sirens, strobe lights and improvised lighting. Unauthorized devices were confiscated, drivers were educated on the regulations, and the police said similar checks will be carried out nationwide to improve road safety.
