Ghana Police deploy armoured vehicle and specialised team to Nkwanta
Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno has deployed a specialised operations team and a multi-purpose armoured vehicle to the Nkwanta Municipality in the Oti Region. The deployment, which arrived on October 14, 2026, is intended to reinforce existing security forces and support ongoing joint Police-Military operations aimed at maintaining law and order.
The Ghana Police Service stated that this move is a reinforcement of current efforts rather than the commencement of a new operation. While the police did not specify the exact incidents that necessitated the additional backup or the size of the new team, the presence of the armoured vehicle signals a heightened security posture in the area.
Authorities have appealed to the public to remain calm and cooperate with security personnel. Residents are encouraged to provide credible information to assist agencies in their efforts to protect lives and property and to refrain from any actions that could undermine security operations.
